ABOUT COREE
Coree Richards was born on 29th of march 1978 in park royal hospital,
North West London. He grew up in St. Raphaels estate with his mother, father and younger sister. It is here where Coree learned and began to nurture his vocal talent.
At the young age of eleven, he began to accel in football and went on to have trials for several major league teams such as aston villa and queens park rangers. Singing at his Grand mother's Penticostal church, Coree began to gain confidence in his vocal ability. Through singing at his school, he met with Jade Jones, Rahsaan Bromfield, Andrez Harriott, and Noel Simpson and formed the band Damage.
Damage quickly grew a reputation as a great new group..
Having first hand in there rise in popularity by promoting there own shows for all the local schools, these were a great success.
The boys then entered a competition in Manchester, in which they were disqualified from for being from London - they were invited back based on thire level of talent. Not being able to win the competition, the boys performed and were spotted by big life record PR. Steve Marshall..
Shortly after that, the mid of big life jazz summers signed the band but before unleashing them on the public, he set about putting the boys into the studios and rehearsal rooms for 18 months before their first single "What You See Is What You Get".
They made quick inroads into the UK singles chart and their second single, "Love II Love", reached number 12 while their follow-up, "Forever", was a number 6 hit during the Christmas period. Damage also supported Boyzone at their Wembley stadium performance in 1996.
Their debut album "Forever" followed in the spring of 1997, along with two further UK Top 10 singles - "Love Guaranteed" and a cover version of Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight", the latter reaching number 3.
Since his departure from the group Damage, Coree began recording solo material with his video "I Don't Give A Damn". During his solo debut, Coree also featured in many top artists hits such as Aphrodisax "Out Of Time", Shy Fx & T-Power "Love The Way", The Concentrations "Man On The Spot", ALONESTAR "Shottas Paradise" & Iceberg Slimm "Starship" - just to name a few !
But shortly realized that he needed to find his sound, so he then revisited his urban roots, writing and producing a catalogue of tracks and performing internationally.
Between tours is was where he met Gak, a successful rapper in his own right and formed the group City Boy Soul.
The Pair ventured on and took the London scene by storm releasing their first single "No Regrets" on May 31st 2010. Not long after they released their second single "Be Ok" featuring Mutya Buena (former Sugababes member), City Boy Soul gained the attention of key industry figures from Trevor Nelson to Simon Cowell.
Despite current interest around the band from major players, they were determined to do things their way and "Be Ok" not only lyrically echoed this intent, but was released through indie label Mykali Records - which gave the boys full control of their music. The track was produced by Bradley Macintosh (former S-Club 7 member, song writiing & producing credits for the likes of Peter Andre and "Party Dark", former members of Big Brovaz)
Shortly after, Coree & Gak mutually decided that it was time they focused on their individual solo projects. Coree is currently set upon spreading his wings and soaring higher than ever with his upcoming album BLACK SWAN BLUE SKIES !
A record definitely worth the wait !!
